Really cool to see passion still in gaming... too bad these guys didn't just make their own game.

This highlights a big problem of the Internet. Practically nobody would have cared if it was an original project. The Half Life brand name was needed for both publications to pick it up without bribing them AKA paying for advertisements and the gamers to give a damn. You can work all you want, but if nobody comes, have you even done anything.
Hopefully, they will use the success of the game and start making their own things now.
